Birmingham born Toyah Wilcox first became well known during the punk rock era, with her appearances in the Derek Jarman 1997 hit film “Jubilee†and 1979’s ‘Who’ inspired “Quadropheniaâ€.
Her singing career was slow to take off, releasing six singles in the UK before finally hitting the charts in 1981, with “It’s a Mysteryâ€. This was followed by several other huge hits including “Thunder In The Mountains†and “I Want To Be Freeâ€. In 1986 she married guitarist Robert Fripp, to whom she still shares one of showbusiness’s most stable marriages.
Over the years Toyah has become a regular on daytime TV, as both a presenter and panellist on various gameshows. She is also a popular name on Reality TV Shows. Through a very respectable career that is still going strong, Toyah has released 30 albums, and has had 8 UK Top 40 singles.
