Marcus first came to national attention through his involvement with Eton Road, the five-piece boy band who rose to fame on The X Factor. After stepping in when one of the group’s original members departed, Marcus quickly made his mark, bringing his distinctive voice, confidence and natural performance ability to the line-up.
Several years later, he returned to The X Factor as a solo artist, auditioning for the programme’s eighth series. His sensational performances captivated audiences across the country, with memorable renditions of classics including Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours’, Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’, Rihanna’s ‘Russian Roulette’, Queen’s ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and Lenny Kravitz’s ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’.
Mentored by Gary Barlow, Marcus consistently impressed both the judges and the public, ultimately reaching the grand final and finishing as runner-up to Little Mix. His remarkable journey made him one of the series’ most popular and memorable contestants.
Following the show, Marcus secured a recording contract and launched his solo career with a bold reworking of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’. The single became a UK Top 10 hit and was followed by his self-titled debut album, Marcus Collins, which also featured the single ‘Mercy’.
A true all-round entertainer, Marcus has also enjoyed considerable success on stage. He starred as Seaweed Stubbs in the UK tour of the hit musical Hairspray, earning praise for his vocals, energy and commanding theatrical presence.
