Candi Staton is an American soul singer hailing from Hanceville, Alabama. Born in 1940, she has been working as a professional musician since the age of 13, but would make her debut as a solo star in the the late ‘60s.
Best known for tracks like Young Heart Run Free, You Got the Love, and her own version of Tammy Wynette’s Stand By Your Man, Staton’s brand of extremely-danceable gospel and soul would earn her a spot in the Christian Music Hall of Fame. Still recording and performing to this day, her latest LP ‘Life Happens’ hit shelves in 2014 – catch her live in the UK at one of four UK gigs in the autumn.
