JAKI GRAHAM

Birmingham born Jaki Graham is an English singer, who’s biggest international success was reaching No.1 on the US Billboard dance chart in 1994 with a cover of Chaka Khans ‘Ain’t Nobody’.

Jaki’s early days in the music industry were spent singing with the band ‘Ferrari’, before going on to become a backing singer for UB40 and Kim Wilde. Her big break however, came when she duetted with the former Linx member, and Fame Academy vocal coach, David Grant on the single ‘Could It Be I’m Falling In Love’ which was a Top 5 hit in 1985.

Now a household name, Jaki’s chart success carried on during the late 80’s with big hits such as ‘Round and Around’, ‘Set Me Free’, ‘Step Right Up’, ‘Breaking Away’ and her second collaboration with David Grant ‘Mated’ ....all of which were Top 20 hits.

The 90’s were a quiet period for Jaki Graham in Europe, although she enjoyed much success in Japan, where she remains a big star today. These days, Jaki’s stye has changed somewhat, and she has been working with the BBC’s Big Band Orchestra performing jazz songs which she is preparing to release on a new live album.
